Our group of family and friends truly enjoyed our time on the water with Captain Ryan. As the saying goes, it’s called fishing, not catching—though we did manage to bring in a stingray, which was a unique and interesting experience for everyone.

Captain Ryan was a fantastic guide for our group. He was especially patient with the two children on board, teaching them exactly what they needed to do to be successful. Even though it was late in the season and the water conditions were a bit choppy, he still managed to get us on the fish.

Captain Tyler is a true local who grew up around Wanchese, and his deep knowledge of the Sound is obvious. He offers a genuine, authentic experience that feels far removed from the typical corporate charter. Our group spanned three generations—my father-in-law, brother-in-law, and son-in-law. It was my son-in-law's first time on a guided fishing trip, and it couldn't have gone better. We had excellent luck with speckled trout, reaching our limit within the first hour. At several points, we even had two fish hitting the lines simultaneously. My father-in-law also managed to land a quality drum. Having been on many trips where we returned to the dock empty-handed, this was a welcome change. For convenience, there is a fish cleaning service right on the dock. They’ll filet your catch for a fair price so you can take it straight home. It was a highly successful day on the water.

Time spent with Captain Ryan was truly worthwhile. He is incredibly knowledgeable and has a fantastic personality that makes the day even better. We had a successful catch and even a close encounter with several sharks nearby—while we didn’t land one, having them so close to the boat was quite the highlight.

Captain Ryan provided an excellent experience for us. He took our group to two productive locations and was incredibly helpful throughout the trip. He was especially patient and kind while assisting my son in landing an impressive red drum, which weighed in at 7lbs and measured 27.5 inches.

This was an outstanding experience. I arranged this morning outing for my husband and me to celebrate our anniversary, and it surpassed all expectations. The captain was remarkably prepared, personable, and kept us laughing throughout the trip. He led us to a productive location and provided clear guidance on where to cast our lines. We successfully landed three bluefish along with several stingrays. The captain was incredibly attentive, keeping our hooks baited and safely removing the fish and rays for us. He even took the time to demonstrate the proper way to handle our catch to avoid any teeth or barbs. Later, we moved to a different spot where we caught a black drum and two red drums. He carefully verified that every fish met the legal size requirements before bringing them on board. It was a perfectly managed morning on the water.
